CCTV AND HOUSE PURCHASE SURVEYS, AIR AND WATER TESTING

CCTV Surveys involve a camera being entered into the pipe work and the image is seen on a monitor, this is by far the most efficient and cost effective way of identifying faults and determining the correct type of repair for the fault identified. All our systems have the capability to record the images on to a compact disc.

CCTV surveys are commonly used as a tool to check the drainage serving a property prior to purchase, this way any faults are highlighted and the cost of repair is negotiated with the Vendor.

We also offer a consultancy service to assist you if you are not convinced the repairs being recommended to you are necessary, we could and would attend site on your behalf but a visit would be charge at our standard rate however, if you obtain a recording of the faults a copy could be sent to us electronically or through the post. We would review the recording and provide an unbiased opinion as to whether or not the repairs are required, this way the costs are kept down.

Air and water tests are carried out in the same way, the drain is bunged off and put under pressure using air or water, if the pressure level should drop the drain has a leak. It would then be necessary to determine the cause pf the leak which in most cases would be via a CCTV survey.

EXCAVATIONS

We carry out all types of excavation to repair or install pipe work, Guilles and Access Chambers (Manholes) etc. All of our excavation work complies with the guidelines laid down by the WRC. We have both supervisor and operative qualifications obtained via City and Guilds which allows us to excavate in the Public Highway / Foot way, subject to obtain a licence from the relevant council.

All necessary liaison and administration is undertaken by us if we are appointed to undertake the work required.

RE-ROUNDING OF PITCH FIBRE PIPE

Pitch Fibre pipe work was installed mostly during the 1960's and 1970's, it has a tendency to dilapidate in several ways with the most common being deformation and blistering. Deformation is the term used to describe the pipe when it becomes non circular, because Pitch Fibre is a soft material the weight of the ground around it causes the pipe to squash.

Pitch Fibre pipe is made by several layers rolled together during manufacture, after time these layers split apart in places leaving blisters on the inside of the pipe, hence the term blistering. Re rounding is used as part of a process to restore the pipe to its original roundness, this process can only be used where the deformation does not exceed 50% and the pipe has not bellied.

This process involves winching a bullet shaped through the pipe to re-establish its diameter and break away any blistering, the pipe is then cleaned using High Pressure Water Jetting to remove any debris, a structural liner is then installed to strengthen the pipe and to prevent it from losing its shape, without the liner the pipe will quickly return to its dilapidated condition,Re-rounding is a relatively unobtrusive and cost effective method or repair when used in the correct situation.

STRUCTURAL LINING

This method of repair is favored by most because it is cost efficient and relatively unobtrusive taking hours instead of days and usually there is no need for excavation however, it is not always a suitable repair method.

In the most part it is used to repair cracks, fractures and to prevent root ingress, it is not suitable for repair of medium or large displaced joints, breaks, bellied pipe work etc.

The process involves a poly felt tube being cut to the required length, impregnated with a resin/chemical mixture and inserted into the pipe. The tube is then inflated and after a short time the resin / chemical mixture cures and hardens leaving a new inner lining of the pipe. There are other types of lining that use Epoxy resin and Patch Liners for isolated repairs but all work in a similar way.

We carry out all methods of lining and provide this for pipe work with all diameters between 100mm and 300mm.

HIGH PRESSURE WATER JETTING

To help with stubborn blockages, cleaning, de-scaling and root cutting, we have jetting units with different pressure outputs flow rates to accommodate your needs more efficiently.

Our jetting units operate between 2000-10000 psi which in the wrong hands can be dangerous, to minimise the risk all of our operators are fully trained and certificated in how to operate the jetting units, further to this they are also trained to cater for public safety within the working zone.

BLOCKED DRAINS, SINKS AND GULLIES

Most blockages are cleared within the first half an hour using manually operated tools, in some cases it is necessary to use mechanical aids such as High Pressure Water Jetting but this is mostly reserved for tree root and scale removal but it is a very efficient tool for cleaning pipe work.
